This is a good shipping answer, this means the package was delivered to your door. Tavita, did you insure or request signature? If you paid by Paypal, read thier TOS , and you would realize that the seller did his part, he shipped. Why should a dealer be given a negative because you're too cheap to insure or add signature? All in all Tavita, your personality shines or actually glares through in your posts, feedback and actions. All in all John is an upstanding performer, salesman and above all PERSON, you however have made more enemies than me in a very short time in the magic community by peddling homemade crap and leaving feedback that is simply not true and damaging to good buyers and sellers alike. Before you know it you will reap what you sowe. It's amazing how most of us can have hundreds (or thousands) of positive feedbacks and NO negatives, and someone like this has quite a few negative entries. Really says a lot about someone. Here's the latest nasty feedback she recently left someone:   (USERSUPREME): Item not received! Seller no help,Paypal claim filed,Under investigation! You have made it quite clear that you refuse to see what you don't like. You supposedly have read the many remarks here about your dishonest add, and your less than honorable actions thereafter. Your justifications for these actions have been extremely weak. You either ignored the many freely given character references for John, or else you must have convinced yourself that all are lying, or perhaps are being coerced somehow into defending him. Tavita, grow up! That just doesn't happen. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of people read John's adds every day. All of them were alerted to this web page. Any who had unsatisfactory dealings with John have had the opportunity to comment on it, just as you have. The fact that no one but you has should tell you something. Please take your own advice and "READ" again what others here have written. I'm afraid you will create many hardships for yourself unless you learn to open your eyes to the truth. I have already answered the question of my user name. LEARN TO READ AND READ TO LEARN. To answer the question of people speaking out for me? I have no need to rally my supporters to post favorable comments in a forum that means nothing to anybody that matters to me. In actual fact having had a dealing with HP that was less than favorable. I find it ironic that mendoza chose to post here. In any case I really don't care what the peanut gallery thinks and since there has been no intelligent retort for quite some time will be leaving this thread alone for a while. Good luck to you all and keep supporting john till he screws you and then come back and tell us all about it. This will prevent this woman from bidding on your auctions, and may prevent unwarranted negative feedback against you. I noticed via her feedback that she has bought from a few of the other posters here. (Lucky they escaped without a ding!) But if you look at the feedback she has left for others, she is quite aggressive. Best to be avoided probably. Should "usersupreme" change her userID again, this would be a good place to post it so others can be made aware of whatever identity she goes by in the future. nondisclosed_email@example.com (professorhoffman)Mon, 15 Jan 2007 13:01:05 +0000 Re: The Promised eBay Negative Feedback Posthttps://broundtable.runboard.com/p220154,from=rss#post220154https://broundtable.runboard.com/p220154,from=rss#post220154Tavita, I am astonished by your claims. First, Tavita's feedback pretty much speaks for itself. Also I'm wondering why after this fiasco she would change her ebay user name? Did she think this would all go away by doing so? Second, over the past 5 years John and I have done business both buying and selling to each other. John has the patience of a Saint and is NEVER rude, I have sent John items that either was not exactly what he was looking for or were damaged in transit. John has always been understanding and we've always worked things out and been happy doing business together. Tavita appears to be a regular individual not a huge company, what the heck is this restocking fee? I mean how hard would it be to put it back in the trash can it probally came out of? Had John filed a complaint with Paypal as Item Not as Described, Tavita would have had to pay John back in full less his return shipping. Restock fee? Pffffft. The negative John recieved will be shrugged off by all buyers and bidders, however the negative that Tavita has recieved will affect her auctions, if anyone that knows John would even bid on any of her trash again, I know I sure won't. I guessed it would result in a Magicians Y2K. As soon as I saw the posting, I went out and purchaed a generator, a sack of rice, a case of span, a water purifier, a rifle and a bible. If Mendoza is the Magic Godfather of Ebay, I would like to consider myself, maybe the Son of The Magic Godfather of Ebay (Michael, not Fredo). (Ebay ID: mracewillie.) When buying from Mendoza, you can be pratically guaranteed three things... 1. You will be paying "Full Boat." 2. The product will be exactly as describled. 3. Any issues or concerns will be addressed to the buyers transactions. I have done numerous transactions with Mendoza and have always gotten a square deal. The one time I received a product I was not happy with (it was damaged in transit) Mendoza immediately offered me a full refund or a 50% discount (I chose the discount). I am also one of the sellers that Mendoza has bought from and then resold at a handsome profit. Oh well, shame on me for not knowing my product. On the other hand, I've made a nice income reselling auctions also. That would normally work out just fine, except for the fact that your description was plainly DECEPTIVE. You KNOW you were deceptive. Trying to pass a piece of absolute junk off as a "thing of beauty" and in "excellent condition." Really...putting that piece of garbage next to a P&L dove pan would be like putting a Paint by Number next to a Picasso. Of course, you realize that and are simply showing your ugly, cynical colors with such an absurd comment. Sorry, I won't fall for that. I know idiotic comments when I read them. Rest assured WE will sleep great tonight, because you got the roasting you so rightly deserve. You can expect more of the same, I am sure, so toss and turn, Tavita. But most importantly, your ebay activities will be watched like a hawk, thus assuring that others will be made aware of your past conduct before they even think about patronizing you. Interesting that you've chnaged your handle to "supreme." Too bad that hardly describes you. Perhaps you should change your name to "unwanted." You are rude, condescending, and small minded. You haven't come here for entertainment--you've come here to see what a stink you've created. People like you enjoy stink, and it probably follows you wherever you go. Don't kid yourself that John has some sort of "portable army" of mindless supporters. I haven't even had contact with him in probably a couple of years. But I do know this: he's as decent as they come. Clearly, you revel in attention, Tavita, or whatever your name is. You'll get some attention I'm sure, but it certainly won't be favorable. It's also pretty obvious that your self esteem is fluttering in the wind based on your posts. Maybe if you'd rework your character a little better, you wouldn't have to use confrontation as a tool to build yourself up. Doesn't work. At this point, it doesn't even matter if you're right or not. It's not even about your ability to handle any fallout. Amusing as this may be for you (and I truly doubt this to be the case), isn't this more about putting an end to this for you and trying to do the right thing in life? If you made a mistake, what's so difficult about apologizing, adjusting your bahavior to prevent similar future mistakes, and otherwise trying to 'right the wrong.' Tavita, if I were involved in an ebay transaction and the person on the other end had received thousands of positive feedback comments and not one negative feedback comment (i.e. 100% rating), and if the thought crossed my mind- FOR WHATEVER REASON- of leaving negative feedback for this person, I simply could not bring myself to doing such a thing. There are numerous reasons for this, least of which is because since no one knows everything, the possibility exists that the one who's actually wrong is me. This wisdom combined with the fact that feedback can't be removed after 90 days (I believe) would in and of itself- regardless of the facts of the dispute- prevent me from leaving negative feedback. Since it's reasonable to believe that anyone with a track record like John's is him/herself reasonable, honorable, dealing 'in good faith,' and otherwise trying to do the right thing, even if I had a one-time transactional issue with this individual, I would certainly not want to be the one to leave the first negative feedback in thousands of transactions. I would feel guilty about it, even if I truly thought I was right. Plus, even if I didn't feel guilty about it shortly after the transaction, I would recognize that by the time I might just come around to regretting having left negative feedback, the deadline to retract will have passed and I wouldn't therefore be able to 'right my wrong.' So, Tavita, I appeal to you to let reason, not emotion prevail here. Entrenched in your 'position' as you might be, I appeal to you to understand that weeks, months, and years might elapse before you realize a mistake on your end was made; however, by then, it'll be too late. And finally, I appeal to you to do what might in the moment be difficult, for in the end, you'll be able to look back at this situation without any regrets. Finally, I appeal to you to...well, to appeal to your own reputation and pocketbook. As such, do the right thing, and even if you can't bring yourself to admit any wrongdoing, please still take a step forward by retracting your negative feedback and let's all agree that all of us- including you- would prefer to move 'onwards and upwards' to making good, to solving bigger and more important problems, and to otherwise making this world a better place! Isn't being happy and kind and friendly and giving someone a positive experience and making friends along the way much more appealing to you than being lousy, unreasonable, and ruining someone's long-standing, impeccable score?None of this can possibly be worth the huge amounts of grief and small amounts of money here. I would think you'd want to put a stop to the magic community rallying against you and in favor of John and start the process of making this right. The longer you let this drag on, the longer you'll experience the 'fallout.' Who really cares if you were wrong or right? Why don't you start the process of retracting your negative feedback right away? Heck, as far as I understand, your negative feedback won't even be removed; however, John's score will reflect this change by jumping back up to 100% where it should be. If you do the 'right thing,' you might just be surprised by how forgiving people can be, but you first need to make this right; all you need to do is simply step up to the plate, sincerely apologize for your mistake, and reverse what should have never been done in the first place. I have known John Mendoza for many years. I have found to be one of the most honest , reliable and fair people I know. He has related the entire story to me personally and I have no doub't of the facts that he has stated. If you read the feedback comments he has received on Ebay his record speaks for itself. Regarding this Tavita person I noticed now that they have changed their sellers name...Gee Tavita what's that all about??? John you are a first class guy and I am proud to call you my friend. I have bought many things from John Mendoza over the years. He may be occasionally blunt but he is a straight shooter, and he does what he says. The man has THOUSANDS of positive feedback votes. That does not come about by accident. People do business with him repeatedly. That does not come about by accident. Let's look at you, Tavita. The way you present yourself comes across to me as mean spirited. Your manner cetainly does not support the conduct you claim. The bottom line: 1. John is a reasonable guy. You sold John a piece of junk. Plain and simple. Using the quote, "one man's junk is another man's treasure" is ridiculous. It isn't a license to describe something in glowing terms, as if that will have a placebo effect on the unknowing recipient. Had you described your offering for what it was, John would not have bid on it. Nor, I am guessing, would anyone else! 2. John said you packaged it poorly and it arrived broken. I believe John. I don't believe you. John knows how to pack a box. Again, look at his feedback. Holding any buyer responsible for not returning something that arrived in a damaged state is inexcusable. 3. What John PAYS for something and what he SELLS it for are not relevant. In fact, I could care less of I pay John $500 for something he got for $10. I only care whether it is worth $500 to me. On that note Tavita, I would like to request that if you ever find a Picasso at a garage sale and buy it for 50 cents...I will expect you to offer it to us for 50 cents. After all, making money on a transaction just "isn't right." Better start going around to all the stores at the mall as well, and be sure to let them all know that what they are doing "isn't right." After all, they are earning a profit, something it appears you take issue with, right? I guess you are on ebay as a public service. But I'm not completely convinced the public needs (or wants) your service.    nondisclosed_email@example.com (professorhoffman)Mon, 08 Jan 2007 16:31:18 +0000 Re: The Promised eBay Negative Feedback Posthttps://broundtable.runboard.com/p220129,from=rss#post220129https://broundtable.runboard.com/p220129,from=rss#post220129I have seen john buy things on eBay one day for one price and sell them the following week for double or triple what he bought them for. Well, that's a surprise! I am quite sure many of his buyers are fully aware of that. That's what a business is all about. Besides, John always tends to bid low, so anyone who really wants an item can easily outbid him without having John sneak up on you at the last minute. nondisclosed_email@example.com (George Guerra)Mon, 08 Jan 2007 11:55:07 +0000 Re: The Promised eBay Negative Feedback Posthttps://broundtable.runboard.com/p220128,from=rss#post220128https://broundtable.runboard.com/p220128,from=rss#post220128quote:Well, I for one am surprised that John has gotten even one negative feedback. I've been both purchasing magic and selling magic to John for over twenty years now, and I've been amazed at how accurate he is in all his dealings. I've joked with him many times about the great lengths he goes to point out any defect or shortcoming in the effects he sells. Yes, I will pay more to John, because he has proven to me that I will get what I pay for. I don't have to hope that the seller is telling me the truth about a prop. I noticed that Tavita didn't disagree that her prop wasn't in the promised "wonderful," "great quality," "beauty,"  "excellent" condition her add boasted. Apparently it is more important to her that she didn't make a huge profit then the fact that her add lied about a broken, poorly made prop. In addition, she didn't disagree with the poor wrapping John said she used to send such a "great piece". It also seems very dishonorable to me, even after a less than optimal transaction, to leave bad feedback after the situation has been resolved and the purchaser has left good feedback. Tavita, in trying to hurt John's reputation, you've told us a lot about yourself. To use your own argument, I wonder how many people you've threatened into leaving you good feedback, and then vindictively left bad feedback to punnish them. Straighten up and treat others fairly, or you won't last long in this community. Rick LOL I really didn't feel the need to defend myself as dose john, but since the peanut gallery seems to be in favor of fantasy I'll do my best to correct the errors in these posts. First off this whole situation is ridiculous. People get negative feedback on eBay all the time and for all sorts of reasons. I left Negative feedback for john because he returned the item broken. He lies about it's condition and how it was sent. If the box was crushed why did he accept delivery. I might have had recourse with the postal service had he refused delivery. Fact is it was well packed in bubble and peanuts Styrofoam. As far as it being junk, well one mans junk is another mans treasure. This is the whole premises of eBay as the worlds largest garage sale. I stand behind all I sell and that’s why he got a refund. As far as negatives in my feedback lol none are from buyers the 2 are from sellers who ripped me off, so that's a mute point as well. Lastly look at all the people who are writing in this thread to support john. It's nice to know that his emails reach so many people. I'm not at all impressed with his ability to rally people to his side never having had business with me. My only advice to those who would sing his praises, Be careful as I have seen john buy things on eBay one day for one price and sell them the following week for double or triple what he bought them for. A less than honorable practice. That’s all for now. I, too, became a member of this site just to be able to to stand up for John F Mendoza. Not only have I bought a lot of magic from him for several years, I have always been happy with every aspect of the transactions, and if there was a problem, John went above and beyond to make it right. I am also the one who bought the Symbiose 'package' from him. It was exactly as he wrote - both in the item descriptions - and his comments on this site. I already had the other item of this package - Third Eye, or Hole in the Head - or whatever it was called. As I told John in my feedback, they were both overpriced and underwhelming - exactly as he claimed - but I was happy to learn Symbiose and save some money. Also, now I own something that once belonged to Devin Knight - again, just as John wrote. In short, which is difficult for me as you can tell from the rambling nature and length of this post, John has always been kind and absolutely professional with me, and although we have actually met only once, I consider him a friend. His knowledge of magic is incredible. His ebay item descriptions are worthy of saving offline for their insights, routine ideas, and history. He has very kindly advised me on items by giving his opinion about the items, my preferences, my style, etc. We have this running joke that I should just sign over some of my paychecks to him because I get into trends where I win and buy a lot from him over short runs of time. I look forward to many, many more successful transactions with John. But I plan to keep my paychecks and continue to pay John as I have in the past. John, I apologize for not submitting some feedbacks. As you know, I still have stuff I bought from you that I have not opened yet! Rest assured I will post every feedback that I can from here on until we get you up to the 100% Positive that you have earned and deserve. Hang in there, flinndog! You are one of the greatest! Your pal, Joey Butler nondisclosed_email@example.com (kidkangaroomajordomo)Mon, 08 Jan 2007 08:39:38 +0000 Re: The Promised eBay Negative Feedback Posthttps://broundtable.runboard.com/p220121,from=rss#post220121https://broundtable.runboard.com/p220121,from=rss#post220121I may be unique in having bought items from both of these folks. I can tell you that my experience with Tavita was one of the worst I've had on eBay. She acted paranoid and suspicious that I wouldn't pay or woudl try to scam her, despite my 100% positive feedback and several emails from me. She reported me to eBay while we were still exchanging email with no notice to me that she was about to do so. It is only my opinion, but I think she has some kind of emotional issues. The nasty and juvenile feedback that she has given, not just to John, but to others (though not me, Thank Goodness!) tells you what you are dealing with. I will NEVER buy from her again, or from anyone who leaves feedback like that. It is unprofessional, unfair, irresponsible, and frankly unconvincing as it says more about the person leaving it than the person who received it. OTOH, I have bought a lot of items from John, and never been disappointed (except when outbid!). He is honest, fast, understanding, and a true gentleman. I will say that the prices his items command are in fact higher than the same items sold by others. Part of that is due to his excellent descriptions and marketing technique, but the major part is that we all respect both his opinion and his character. If John says it's good, and in good condition, it IS. I wish so many other folks hadn't tumbled on to that, because it really drives the prices high, but that's the way it goes. We'd rather pay more and avoid the "Tavita Experience." Thanks, John for all your contributions to magic, and, through your books and eBay ads, to my magic education. Warm regards, Another satisfied customer. nondisclosed_email@example.com (magicguy)Mon, 08 Jan 2007 00:05:52 +0000 Re: The Promised eBay Negative Feedback Posthttps://broundtable.runboard.com/p220120,from=rss#post220120https://broundtable.runboard.com/p220120,from=rss#post220120John. . . yes, you are right. Make no more replies. You don't need to and please don't waste your time. Your reputation speaks for itself over the many years of your service to the art of magic. And Miss Tavita, find some different hobbies. Magic and Ebay selling are not good to you. Try the US postal service. There's no requirement to have tact. Don't worry anyone, I won't be responding to her either. I'm only registered for just today to stand up for John. Goodbye. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Jeff Hobson)Sun, 07 Jan 2007 23:41:17 +0000 Re: The Promised eBay Negative Feedback Posthttps://broundtable.runboard.com/p220117,from=rss#post220117https://broundtable.runboard.com/p220117,from=rss#post220117I, too, have purchased hundreds of items through ebay and other on-line sources, including many dozens of magical items. A few times the items were exactly as described, but were still unusable. That's one of the unfortunate aspects of buying on line and why--especially when it comes to new products--I always urge people to support their local dealers (if there is one). Most of the time, if there has been a problem, sellers have gone out of their way to be courteous and respectful and did their best to resolve it. A few wouldn't contact me and one I had to threaten to sue. Considering the vast number of exchanges that go on daily, it is amazing that there are so few rip-offs. We should do everything we can to try and resolve problems. If there is no response, it may include negative feedback, filing a complaint with the post office and filing a report with the Better Business Bureau. There are really two reasons to buy on-line. To get something we can't obtain locally, or to save money. I recently purchased a magic effect that retailed for $125 and was being sold at the Magic Castle swap meet for $99 for only $75. Unfortunately, because we are out to save money, there are a few people who will take advantage of us. As I said, I recommend doing everything legal to resolve the problem. Be courteous. For example, even if a product is pure crap, it might be more advantageous to say, "the ad said it was high quality, but the product clearly did not meet this claim." We do catch many more flies with honey than with salt. But no matter what happens, if you do a lot of selling and buying on line, there are going to be nasty people there. You can't just walk out of their store or ask them to leave your store. So I suggest we do everything possible to resolve such problems. If they cannot be resolved, I suggest reporting troublemakers and crooks to appropriate authorities and with negative feedback. Hopefully, that will stop others from getting ripped off, too, and give us some brownie points. But finally, I also suggest that there are a few bad debts that we simply have to accept. It sucks, but it's reality. Holding on to any anger can only hurt our own health. May the rip-offs you experience be few!nondisclosed_email@example.com (dmkraig)Sun, 07 Jan 2007 23:10:07 +0000
